Taurus New Moon in Gate 2
The new moon in Taurus is on May 7th at 8:21 pm Pacific and is activating Gate 2, the Gate of Higher Knowing.
This is one of the best new moons of the year with it being the first after the eclipse season and Mercury stationing direct. The Moon also loves being in Taurus. Taurus is known as the place of the Moon’s exaltation.
In astrology, there is a fundamental concept known as essential dignity which refers to the strength or power that a planet has in a particular sign of the zodiac.
There are several essential dignities, each of which indicates a different level of strength or effectiveness for a planet:
Rulership (Domicilie): Each of the 12 signs has a planetary ruler. When that planet is in a sign that it rules, it is considered to be particularly strong and capable of expressing its energy fully. This is where it feels most at home.
Exaltation: Exaltation is a position of heightened influence for a planet. Each planet has one sign where it is considered exalted. Planets in their exaltation are considered to be powerful and express their qualities with ease.
Detriment: A planet is in detriment when it is in the sign opposite to the one it rules- it is the furthest away from its home sign(s). Planets in detriment may face challenges in expressing their energy and may feel somewhat restricted or weakened. Placements in detriment are not necessarily negative- they offer opportunities for growth and learning.
Fall: A planet is said to be in its fall when it is in the sign opposite to the one where it is exalted. Planets in their fall are considered to be at a low point of power and may struggle to manifest their energy effectively. These can also be opportunities for growth and development.
With the Moon being exalted in Taurus, this means that it can express its energies most harmoniously and powerfully.
The Moon represents emotions, instincts, and nurturing qualities. In Taurus, the Moon's nurturing energy is expressed through acts of practical care and tangible support. This exaltation brings comfort, security, and nourishment to others.
Taurus is associated with material possessions, wealth, and the pleasures of the physical world. It is ruled by Venus, which brings the qualities of love, beauty, values, and the importance of relationships to Taurus. It’s also known for its practicality, determination, and perseverance, and the moon being exalted here enhances these qualities.
When the Moon is exalted in Taurus, there is an appreciation for the finer things in life and a tendency to seek comfort and luxury. It also fosters a deep connection to nature and the natural world.
This new moon in Taurus, is activating the most receptive gate in the entire Bodygraph and the home of our Magnetic Monopole, Gate 2.
The 2nd Hexagram, known as The Receptive, is the most yin of the 64. It’s made up of 6 yin (receptive) lines and represents the pure Earth element in the I-Ching. It represents the purest yin, most receptive and flexible hexagram.
The 1st Hexagram, is the programming partner to the 2nd and is its mirror opposite. Being composed of 6 yang (solid) lines, it represents the pure Heaven element. Together the 1st and 2ns represent the concepts of creation and reception, yin and yang.
The 1st and 2nd Hexagrams act as an introduction to the entire I’Ching. The 1st Hexagram explores natural phenomena, the Tao of Heaven and the 2nd explores social phenomena, the Tao of Humanity. As a human being, we have to be receptive to and responsive to the will of heaven.
The Gate of Higher Self, is located in the G-center reaching for Gate 14 in the Sacral, creating the Channel of the Beat, which is a part of the Knowing (Individual) Circuit.
Gate 2 is an important gate in Human Design for several reasons.
It marks the start of the 2nd Quarter of Civilization and sets the foundation (bottom 2 lines) for all 16 gates in the quarter to yin-yin.
Gate 2 is also the home of the Magnetic Monopole, which is what gives our life direction. The Monopole is the driver of our vehicle (the body) and acts as a one way magnet, attracting things into our life and moving us in the direction of our trajectory.
This gate has a vision & provides a plan for moving forward but is not responsible for doing the work or making it happen- this comes from the Sacral energy of gate 14, which has the commitment to drive new projects and creative endeavors out into the world.
The wisdom that comes from this gate is to trust in the power of the Monopole to be the driver instead of the mind trying to be in control. This allows you to surrender to the Monopole and witness the magic of what life brings you. You become more receptive to all of life.

The 2nd Shadow is Dislocation, which is about not trusting in your life’s direction and feeling lost and disconnected from your true self, others, and the universe. However, there is never a single moment when you are out of harmony with life, it only feels that way.
Dislocation can manifest as lost (repressive nature) where you feel out of alignment with your true destiny or regimented (reactive nature) where you try to enforce an external rhythm or structure onto life.
It’s out of this shadow that all of our fears are born. Each of the 64 shadows are rooted in fear, so you could say that it is through the 2nd shadow that all of the other shadows are born. It’s also through the 2nd Gift that these lower frequencies can be transformed and unified with their Siddhis.
The 2nd Gift of Orientation is about learning to trust that you are always in perfect harmony with all of creation- even when you feel disconnected or resistant. Even the shadows are in perfect harmony.
The truth is that you’re never alone and you can never make a wrong decision or take a wrong turn in life.It's not actually possible to be disconnected or make a mistake in life because evolution is constantly pushing you to remember your unity and oneness with all of life.
It’s through the 2nd Gift that you begin to witness the hidden agenda behind all of life, which is to bring all beings into the awareness of their inherent unity.
The 2nd Siddhi of Unity describes the experience of true enlightenment that is the cornerstone of all other siddhic states. Unity dissolves the separation between the Shadow, Gift and Siddhi- everything is seen as the Divine. There is no longer such a thing as duality. This is a state of oneness, which can never be fully comprehended with the mind- it can only be lived.
When the 2nd Siddhi dawns within a human being, it shifts the direction for the whole of humanity. In order for this siddhi to be born into the world, it takes a huge leap in consciousness.

There is a common misconception when it comes to the concepts of oneness or unity. These states are often seen as homogenization and the loss of our individuality. But how can this be when gate 2 is a part of the Individual Circuitry?
I don’t believe that the states of oneness and unity are about homogenization- I think that’s what the shadows are about, not siddhic consciousness. Unity is what occurs when we follow our own unique direction in life and learn to trust in ourselves instead of something external.
Unity is about remembering our interconnectedness and that we are never alone in life. This is about dissolving “Us versus Them” thinking that keeps us divided. It’s about honoring and respecting the differences in others instead of seeing them as a threat. Unity is about being able to hold multiple truths and realities at the same time.
