Scorpio Full Moon in Gate 28

How are you feeling after the recent eclipse? What was brought to light or emerged for you during eclipse season?

The first lunation after the eclipse is a full moon in Scorpio on April 23rd at 4:50 pm Pacific, which will be activating gate 28, the Gate of the Game Player.

Even though we’re out of eclipse season, Mercury is still retrograde until until April 25th when it will station direct but then be in its post-retrograde shadow until May 12th.

When Mercury entered into its pre-retrograde shadow on March 18th, it was in gate 51. This pre-shadow period is when Mercury is still direct, but is slowing down and going through the gates that it will then go back through during its retrograde.

Mercury stationed retrograde on April 1st in gate 3 when it then started to move back through gate 42 and 51.  When it gets back to gate 51, it will station direct, but be in its post shadow until it moves out of gate 3.

Gate 51, 42, and 3 are the gates that were reviewed during this period.  Do you have these gates in your chart? Do they link up with hanging gates or create definition in your chart that you don’t normally have? This can give you some insights into how this Mercury retrograde impacted your chart and what it might have brought up for you to review and reflect on since March 18th.

This full moon is an opportunity to release anything that has come up during eclipse season and Mercury retrograde that you don’t want to take forward into the rest of the year.

The 28th Hexagram is called Great Excess and is made up of the elements of Lake over Wind.  There are double the amount of solid lines as receptive lines; the yang greatly exceeds the yin, which is why this hexagram is referred to as Great Excess.

The Gate of the Game Player is located in the Spleen reaching for gate 38 in the Root creating the Channel of Struggle, which is a part of the Knowing Circuit (Individual).

Gate 28 is about the awareness to know what is worth fighting for and taking risks that make you feel alive. It takes risks that others often wouldn't take because your intuition will always alert you when there is danger. These risks can lead to struggle which can bring purpose to existence.

This is the love of life.

This gate is driven by the fear of life running out which can manifest as being afraid to live, the fear of death, or the fear of not living fully.

The purpose of this process is mutation. If mutation is going to be successful and replace the old with something innovative, the Tribe and Collective must be convinced it's valuable.

This is why it's important to know what is worth fighting for.

The 28th Shadow of Purposelessness is rooted in the fear of death.  This can manifest as trying to deny death until it inevitably catches up with you or you allow it to consume you and live in constant reaction to that fear.

Purposelessness can manifest as hollow (repressive nature) where you try to appear happy and easy going but lack the awareness to look into the deep, dark mirror of your soul.  You turn away from your fears and have no deeply felt sense of purpose.

It can also manifest as gambling (reactive nature) where you react to fear that results in risk taking and impulsive actions. You move so quickly that you cannot see the fear that is driving your actions.

In order to unlock the 28th Gift, you must reclaim the dark aspects of your being. You have to look into your fears.

Your purpose is often found within your deepest fears.

We are each born with a unique creative purpose that no one else carries.  However, to release your true creativity into the world means you must face your deepest fear of death.

The 28th Gift of Totality is about learning to live alongside fear and to remain open to change. This is about embracing the full spectrum of what life brings you in each moment without allowing your mind to be in control.

You discover purpose when you let go of your mind's quest to figure it out and know exactly what your purpose is. You realize that purpose is something deeper and more profound than your mind could even conceptualize.

You move from trying to figure it out to just living it and discovering purpose in every breath you take. True purpose is found in giving yourself 100% to every moment. Purpose has nothing to do with any type of achievement.

When fulfillment comes from being alive and giving yourself fully to whatever role you’re playing in the moment, then you are total.

The 28th Siddhi contains the seed of the manifestation of immortality into form.  Immortality is about the cessation of time.

Totality is about living life to the fullest where Immortality is about dying into the everlasting moment.

At the shadow level, you do everything to try and avoid death.  At the siddhic level, you live so fully in the moment that death ceases to exist.

This requires you to surrender to your deepest fears.  As you do so, you begin to realize the true purpose of life- to live in the immortal truth of your own nature beyond time and form.

Contemplation Prompts for the Full Moon in Gate 28:

🌕Is there anything in my life that I am avoiding or am I searching for my life purpose externally?

🌕When was the last time I felt connected to the totality of existence?

🌕What does purpose mean to me? How do I find purpose in my life?
