Kali: 5th Face of the Godhead

With everything going on in the world, I’ve had a lot on my mind lately that I’ve wanted to get out onto paper- so this blog is going to be a bit longer than usual. Thank you for taking the time to read it and process what is going on in the world with me through the lens of Human Design and Gene Keys. 

One of my favorite areas of contemplation in Human Design is the Godhead. It’s a topic that I find isn’t often discussed, but can provide a lot of insight into the events that we see playing out in the collective as well as our individual lives. 

This is because the 16 Faces of the Godhead are connected to personality consciousness programming. This is really about mind control and how these forces program each of us with their specific agenda. 

This is why we can see the specific agenda of each of the Godheads playing out in the collective storyline because each one is trying to program us to think and thus act according to their agenda, if we’re not following our strategy and authority. 

However, when you’re aware of these forces and the specific agenda of each face of the Godhead, you can begin to break the covenant with them instead of falling into their homogenized program.  

“We cannot escape them [the faces of the Godhead and their programming]. We cannot escape the impact. Our minds are always going to resonate to these formulas. And we will have a spectrum in our awareness as to where we stand relative to any of them, but we are not here to obey these gods. No, no, no, not at all. We respect them for their work; may they do their job well. But we do not obey them. This is the breaking of the covenant.”  -Ra Uru Hu, The Faces of Initiation 

When the Sun moved into Gate 13 on February 1st, it opened up the 1st Quarter of Initiation as well as the 5th Face of the Godhead, Kali. 

Each face of the Godhead includes 4 gates, which will all have the same structure for the bottom 4 lines of the hexagram. Kali includes gates 13, 49, 30 and 55 which all have yang, yin, yang, yang lines at the base on their hexagram. This foundation of the hexagram “is the foundation for a yin godhead of transformation, enormous transformation. That is, transformation and change that requires death and resurrection.” -Ra Uru Hu, Face 5 Kali

Kali is one of the most powerful and complex goddesses in Hindu mythology, associated with time, destruction, transformation, and fierce protection. Her name derives from the Sanskrit word kāla, meaning "time" or "black," symbolizing her transcendence over time and death.

Kali represents the destruction of ignorance, the impermanence of the material world, and the power of the divine feminine. She remains a paradoxical figure: she is both terrifying and benevolent, a destroyer and a mother. She embodies the idea that destruction is necessary for renewal and transformation.

The personality programming that occurs through the 4 Faces of the Godhead in the 1st Quarter (Kali, Mitra, Michael, and Janus) is about programming the mind and the way it thinks and what it gets hooked into. This is where the not-self mind can get locked into the homogenized program.  

“It is the way of thinking. It is the way of collecting experience because that is what the 13 is, the 13 is one of the main memory gates that we have. And it is this collecting experience that leads to thinking, collecting the experience of the 49, of the 30, of the 55 and on and on and on and on, and collecting all that experience that leads to the foundation of mind.” -Ra Uru Hu, The Faces of Initiation  

To understand on a deeper level how this programming is playing out in the collective, I find it valuable to contemplate the Spectrum of Consciousness for the 4 gates within each face of the Godhead. This gives us insights into the homogenized programming that manifests as the Shadow, but also what the potential is for each of us when we break the covenant with these forces, which is where the Gift and Siddhi frequency can be made manifest. 

Let's start with a breakdown of each of the 4 gates in Kali:

Gate 13: The Listener (G-center)

• Hexagram name: The Fellowship of Man
• Shadow: Discord 
• Repressive nature: Permissive
• Reactive nature: Narrow-minded 
• Gift: Discernment 
• Siddhi: Empathy 

This gate is about recording history and reflecting on the past. It’s a part of the Sensing Circuit, which is about experience rather than logic. You have to listen and reflect on the past to know the direction forward. This is what provides continuity between the past and the future.

Gate 49: Principles (Emotional Center)

• Hexagram name: Revolution 
• Shadow: Reaction 
• Repressive nature: Inert 
• Reactive nature: Rejecting 
• Gift: Revolution
• Siddhi: Rebirth 

This gate is about establishing principles in relationships. Principles need to be obeyed otherwise the person will be rejected and cut off by the other. This is why this gate is also known as the gate of divorce. It can manifest as being either sensitive or insensitive towards other people, animals, and their needs, which is based on how much they resonate with your own principles. The people that you allow into your circle are ones that are willing to stand by and support your principles. Your focus is on social change and reforming the way that resources are shared and distributed. 

Gate 30: Recognition of Feeling (Emotional Center)

• Hexagram name: Clinging Fire
• Shadow: Desire 
• Repressive nature: Over-serious 
• Reactive nature: Fickle 
• Gift: Lightness
• Siddhi: Rapture 

This gate is about emotional aches, yearnings, desires, and fate. There is a longing to try new things and experience change. It's the fuel for fantasy and the potential to recognize a feeling. The Gate of the Fates teaches us that life is not always what we expect it to be- it's what we allow it to be. You can't control the outcome, but you can control how you enter into something. When you enter a new situation with emotional clarity, you'll always learn what is correct for you, even if it doesn't match your expectations.  

Gate 55: Spirit (Emotional Center)

• Hexagram name: Abundance
• Shadow: Victimization  
• Repressive nature: Blaming
• Reactive nature: Complaining 
• Gift: Freedom 
• Siddhi: Freedom

This gate is about measuring the emotional highs and lows and is deeply acoustic. It's very sensitive to what others say and their tone of voice. This is the potential awareness of spirit, which is an emotion. Abundance is a function of spirit-it's how you perceive your feelings in the moment. Gate 55 is waiting to be provoked by the 39th gate in order to know what it's feeling. Those with this gate are always searching for the perfect emotional state and can try to rationalize and control their moods. However, it's important not to try and make up a reason for your emotional chemistry- it's just how you're designed.

These 4 gates belong to 2 different Codon Rings: the Ring of the Whirlwind (49 & 55) and the Ring of Purification (13 & 30). I also like to look at the codon rings for insight into the true power of these gates within our DNA when we embody their higher frequencies:

“The Ring of Purification guides humanity to evolve through progressive cycles of cleansing and purification. It takes us on a journey through the purifying fires of consciousness where our beings begin to relinquish the hold of desire.” -Richard Rudd, Codon Rings 

“The Ring of Whirlwind is a genetic codon group chemically linking the 49th Gene Key to the Master Key 55. Together, these keys are currently carrying out a powerful mutative process for humanity, bringing drastic changes at all levels of society. Together they create the rebirth of freedom, or the freedom of rebirth.”  -Richard Rudd, Codon Rings 

Right now we can see Discord, Reaction, Desire and Victimization playing out on the world stage. I feel like there is no better example of this than the late stage capitalism we are living through. 

Late-stage capitalism is a term used to critique and analyze the perceived excesses, contradictions, and inequalities of modern capitalist societies. It suggests that capitalism, in its current form, is reaching a point of extreme wealth concentration, corporate dominance, and social instability.

We see this manifest in the world today in the following ways:

• Record corporate profits vs. worker strikes (e.g., Amazon and Starbucks union efforts, Hollywood writers' strike).
• Massive bailouts for corporations while ordinary people struggle with debt, rent, and medical bills.
• Housing crises where investment firms buy up homes, making ownership unaffordable for many.
• Surveillance capitalism where companies profit from tracking and selling personal data (social media, AI tools, digital ads).
• Health crises are monetized, such as rising insulin prices and hospitals prioritizing profit over patient care.

Many critics argue that late-stage capitalism is unsustainable and could lead to systemic collapse or drastic economic shifts.

To me it has become obvious that as a collective, we have not learned the difficult lessons from our past (gate 13), which has led us to repeat the same mistakes over and over again. We try to fix the symptoms of late stage capitalism with more capitalism. We are just emotionally reacting (gate 49) and becoming victims (gate 55) to the current systems which were built to oppress and keep us divided. We chase after desires for more material possessions and experiences (gate 30) because we don’t truly trust in life or in one another to take care of us. 

But what would the world look like if we could embody the Gifts of Discernment, Revolution, Lightness and Freedom? 

The 13th Gift of Discernment is about listening deeply to your own inner guidance and the voice of your heart rather than your mind. This happens as your emotional nature comes more into awareness.

You begin to see how your view of others is connected to your feelings. When you listen to your feelings, you begin to uncover your own agenda. Only when this has been brought into your awareness can you truly begin to listen to others without an agenda. This is true listening.

Discernment leads to optimism instead of pessimism. This happens as you begin to live out your own myth.

The 30th Gift of Lightness is not about making light out of life or trying to escape life's challenges. Instead, you enter more deeply into life's suffering than ever before because you realize that true strength in life comes from simply trusting. 

The 49th Gift of Revolution is about bringing stagnant energy into awareness. This occurs as everything that is no longer working is brought to the surface. This is the deconstruction of all things of a lower frequency. 

A revolutionary is different from a reactionary. Reactionaries base their reforms on anger and fear and provoke further reaction and conflict. Revolutionaries are not a victim to their old emotional biases or prejudices and implement changes that are rooted in their vision for the future.

The more that we become aware of our emotional reactions, violence will begin to rapidly decrease in the world. This revolution begins inside of our being.

In the whole 64 Gene Keys matrix, the only place that you see the same keynote for the Gift and the Siddhi is here in the 55th Gene Key. This is because the 55th is a launching point for awareness to be set free to where what was once seen as higher consciousness becomes our normal state of being. When this happens all of the Gifts will be freed from their Shadow and merge with their Siddhi.

The first phase of this awakening process involves the rising up of mass consciousness out of the Shadows of victim consciousness. The more people who transcend their shadows, the greater the chance is for someone at the Gift level of consciousness to make the leap to siddhic consciousness. One person at the siddhic level provides a shift at the collective frequency for thousands to escape their Shadows and begin to live out their Gifts. This is when miracles can occur.

When you're freed from the shadow state, you become a conduit for life itself to manifest through you. As you begin to do what you love in life, you co-create the conditions for Peace and Harmony to manifest on the physical plane.

The 55th Gate/ Gene Key is also connected to the change in global cycles (the background frequency) and the mutation of the emotional solar plexus. 

Global Cycles show us the background frequency affecting us during the movement of our solar system within the spiral disk of our galaxy. Global Cycles measure the precession of Equinoxes. The current Global Cycle is in the Cross of Planning (37/40, 16/9), which will come to an end in 2027 when it will move into the Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix (55/59, 34/20).

The Cross of Planning is Tribal (37/40) and Collective (16/9) where the Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix is mostly Individual (55, 34/20).

At the same time, the Emotional Solar Plexus is going through a mutation, which is being triggered by the amino acid Histidine. Gates 55 and 49 both code for this amino acid in the body and are responsible for the mutation that is occurring in the emotional system.

These two things (shift in background frequency and mutation of Solar Plexus) are already beginning to trigger shifts in society. 

Some of the areas that we are likely to see changes include:

• Physical changes  in the body related to salt levels in the body- without the toxins created by fear, the body will need far less salt and will become less dense. 
• Dietary changes related to digestive system, reduction in consumption of meat and salty foods and frequency of eating
• Emotions and how you make decisions- the stilling of the wave
• Shifts in the environment and our connection to animals and the Earth- a new awareness will connect us to animals in a direct way and a feeling of oneness with the Earth and all creatures 
• Technology & science- moving into a science of synthesis where it works hand in hand with art, music, mythology, psychology and is rooted in a deep understanding of the body
• Transformation of the education system and the cultivation of children’s unique gifts 
• Understanding of the true nature of death and illness  

One of my favorite areas that will likely undergo a deep transformation is money. 

“Money is essentially a physical expression of victim consciousness. It represents human fear. Our relationship to money is therefore our relationship to fear. There is nothing that reveals a hidden agenda more quickly than the subject of money. Nearly all money, given or received, carries a hidden charge.” -55th Gene Key

Kali is showing us that in order for there to be a rebirth, there has to be a death. In order for all of these areas to be transformed, we have to let what is no longer serving us die. We have to purge it in the fire so that something new can emerge from its ashes. This is what the Phoenix is all about. 

Kali is a destroyer but also a mother. She is here to destroy what is no longer of service while also birthing something new into the world. 

As we witness the old crumbling around us, it is important that we start to envision and start to build the new. What would a world look like without money? What systems would need to be in place to guarantee equal rights and access to food, water, shelter, and healthcare for all beings? And how can we start to build these structures now in our own lives and communities? 

I look forward to going on this journey with you through the faces of the Godhead to discover how these forces are showing up all around us and how we can embody the higher frequencies to usher in a new earth.
